Envisioning a New Saint Philomena's Convent

Built in 1995, St. Philomena’s Convent was originally intended to be a priory for the small community of Franciscan friars founded by Fr. Charles Poirier. When Father moved to Florida for health reasons, the convent was rented out to lay people and was eventually purchased by the late Dr. Robert Hickson and his wife Maike, the well-known Catholic news commentator. The Hickson family generously donated it to our Sisters in 2009. We lived happily in this convent until July of 2024, when we had to make an emergency evacuation due to a serious mold infestation. Before being forced to leave, however, we were already facing the issue of having no more space to expand our Community. The convent only had eight cells, and we just received our ninth Sister! Between the presence of mold and the absence of room, we are have spent the last year praying that God would make His will clear to us—and He has. We are going to build a new Saint Philomena’s Convent! Semper Deo gratias et Mariae!

We Need a Miracle—and You Can Help!

Saint Philomena, a Grecian princess and third century martyr, is one of the official “Wonderworkers” of the Catholic Church. She is not only patroness of our convent but of our school as well, and we know that she will come through for us! We need a very expensive miracle. Could you help her work one for us?

Our Apostolates

For the Greater Glory of Jesus and Mary

St. Augustine Institute

The Saint Augustine Institute of Wisdom offers a four-year course designed to ground Catholics in the basics of the Faith—its history, philosophy, and Sacred Doctrine—so as to make them effective apostles whatever their state in life.

Missionary Work

As missionaries to the US, our Sisters employ a powerful form of door-to-door evangelization, by means of which we have answered questions, provided encouragement, and given Catholic literature and blessed sacramentals to millions.

IHM
School

Immaculate Heart of Mary School is a small private school with an average enrollment of between thirty and fifty students. We are blessed to be able to keep tuition very low since most of our staff are the Sisters—who have no need of paychecks!
